Introduction
Form finding in a classical sense tries to find a shape of equilibrium of forces in a given boundary w.r.t. a certain stress state. For form finding of membrane structures several methodes have been developed in the past. In the sections below a brief introduction into the field and difficulties of form finding will be given. Subsequent to the discussion of the mechanical problem of form finding an introduction of the usage of CARAT++ to solve the form finding-problem will be given.
Whereas the structural analysis of membranes is the same as for any other geometrically non-linear analysis, the cutting pattern generation again is a very specific aspect of membrane structures.
Single Aspects in Detail
